Fish are an important source of nutrition in South Asia. Helping a fish farmer like Soma get a start on stocking a pond with fingerlings (baby fish) from our hatchery can provide an on-going source of food and income.

Soma took an initial micro-loan to start fish farming in a nearby pond. She got healthy fingerlings from our fish farm to get started. After only five months, she harvested her fish for the first time and made more than twice her initial loan!
Soma is not only repaying the loan but is now able to support her son, and they have built a new house. She also raises goats and chickens and other farm animals.
Soma says her life is so much better now and she feels confident about the future for her family. She is looking forward to expanding the fish farm with more fish soon and is so happy that her son is in school and doing well. Thank you for partnering with us to transform lives like Soma’s!
